With thirty years experience in the international environmental
industry, Ms. Witheridge holds a unique perspective of solid waste
management practices. In the 1970's and early 80's, Ms.
Witheridge developed standards for environmental management
controls at waste disposal sites in the United States, Canada, South
America and Saudi Arabia. Much of her early career focused on
permitting landfills, quantifying their risk, and performing due
diligent reviews for facilities totaling in excess of $1 billion in
revenue. In the mid 80's she became Waste Management’s
Regional Operations Vice President, holding P&L responsibility for
over $250 million in annual revenue.
In the early 90’s, Ms Witheridge turned her attention to waste
recycling, the fastest growth segment of the waste industry.
As Vice President of Recycling and Joint Ventures (with Stone
Container Corp., American National Can/Pechiney, and DuPont) Ms.
Witheridge introduced new efficiencies in waste processing at over
100 material recovery facilities. Using activity based costing
as a basis to promote public policy, Ms Witheridge executed a
nationwide education initiative “Recycling in the 90’s: A Shared
Responsibility” and was recognized for her accomplishments by
Crain's Chicago Business as one of their "Top 40 Under 40". She was
a frequent speaker before regulatory and legislative bodies,
including Environmental Committees of the U.S. Senate and House of
Representatives.
After leaving Waste Management, Ms Witheridge worked with clients
such as Amoco (BP) to help better align their Environment, Health
and Safety practices with their worldwide business needs. In
the late 90’s, Ms Witheridge formed a company, Organics Management
(OMC) to acquire facilities which manufacture fertilizer, process
organic matter and blend soils for use in large scale landscapes and
home gardens. As President and CEO of OMC, Ms Witheridge
distributed soil additives and blends throughout the United States.
Having successfully sold OMC in 2001, Ms Witheridge maintains a
presence in the environmental industry by providing her expertise to
private and public companies in the areas of valuation and
divestiture negotiations, start ups, market assessments for new
business lines and products, permitting and strategic project
management. Since joining TEI as President in 2006, much of her time
is devoted to business development of the Company's TEI Fluidizer.
In 2003, President George Bush appointed Ms. Witheridge as one of
three Federal Commissioners to the
Interstate
Commission of the Potomac River Basin. She majored in
Engineering at LaFayette College, and holds a Masters in Business
Administration from the University of Chicago.
